Antrim Grange Hall Restoration

Antrim Grange, located on Clinton Road/Meetinghouse Hill in Antrim, is in the beginning stages of a huge fundraising effort to restore our historic hall.
First, I would like to give you a brief history of the building. Antrim Grange Hall is the first meeting house in Antrim. Built in 1785, it was originally located up on Meetinghouse Hill near the cemetery. In the 1830's, it was moved down the hill and continued to serve as the town hall until 1894 when a new one was built in the current downtown location. That same year, Antrim Grange purchased the hall from the town and has continued to have regular meetings in the hall to this day.
Antrim Grange has done and continues to do a lot of community service in the area. A few examples are as follows: we built a community garden behind town hall that is free for those who need food including the Antrim/ Bennington Food Pantry patrons who also benefit from it, host an annual Art Show to promote local artists, purchase and hand out dictionaries to 3rd graders in the ConVal District, and have public educational programs throughout the year.
Now, we are the ones asking for help. We have done little things through the years to keep the building cosmetically sound but now the repairs are beyond our expertise or bank account. We are reaching out to anyone who could possibly help us out financially or in any other way possible. We are looking to raise a minimum of $35,000 for repairs. This includes the cost of such projects as the stone foundation that is falling & a new support beam, to the walls/ceilings of horsehair plaster that are crumbling in spots, to the roof that needs re-shingling. We are looking to reach our goal as soon as possible so we can begin these projects in a timely manner.
