Whats’ the problem?
A whole country struggles.
Lately, the price of fuel has been multiplied by 40 in Lebanon. The inhabitants are suffering from a severe health, social and economic crisis. Each day, they don't know if they will be able to go to work, to study or get medical care. Their life is a struggle.
What’s the alternative?
We want to provide a free and solidarity-based alternative.
There is no public transportation in Lebanon. The inhabitants get around mainly by car, when they can afford it, otherwise by bus and cab provided by private companies.
What is bala benzine?
bala benzine is a carpooling app that fosters a sense of solidarity and community in Lebanon. The concept is simple:
- If you have a car, you can share your ride with a passenger.
- If you are a passenger, you can be connected with a driver and find a ride.
Who are we?
We are Lebanese expats volunteering from Paris, Lisbon and Amsterdam to help our country in these difficult times. We have formed a team over a Zoom call and started the bala benzine carpooling app journey. We capitalize on the most reliable Lebanese asset that's made great things happen in Lebanon countless times: solidarity.
The funds raised will cover the costs related to the development of the application, its maintenance and its distribution to residents throughout Lebanon.
