Hovercraft for Texas

Our gofundme program is set up by Bill Zang of Universal Hovercraft in Rockford Illinois to sponsor a team of 2 hovercraft and 2 personnel to deploy in Texas to aid in Hurricane Harvey and the Humanitarian relief effort. We will be coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies. Our hovercrafts are highly efficient and more cost effective to operate than helicopters. This means more work for less money.
Money raised will be used to offset the cost of transporting the hovercraft, operational costs, maintenance and living expenses for the crew. We will operate for as long as funding allows. The crew is donating their time. Estimated cost is $ 5,000 - $7,000 per week of deployment.
To get the units deployed as quickly as possible we will use this schedule; when the first $ 1,000 is raised the team will deploy. At $4,000 the team will commit to a 1 week deployment. Additional funds will allow a longer deployment. After returning home the funds will be transferred to Universal Hovercraft who is fronting the money for the deployment. Should more monies be raised than needed to cover costs, the additional funds will be donated to either the Red Cross or another qualifies gofundme campaign.
Our Illinois based crew is a group of pilots, builders and maintenance technicians whom have been working in the hovercraft industry for a combined 100+ years. The team is led by Universal Hovercraft companies president Bill Zang who has donated time to many rescue missions including Hurricane Katrina.
Hovercraft are able to operate on land and water making them very capable vessels in an urban flood situation. These hovercrafts will be used to transport people, equipment and supplies anywhere they are needed. We will be using an 19XR Commercial Rescue Vehicle and a Renegade IQ as a scout / small rescue craft.
Our crew is a devoted group of caring individuals dedicated to helping those affected by Hurricane Harvey. We are grateful for any contribution given and will use money raised as effectively and transparently as possible. We look forward to offering our assistance for as long as needed in Texas.
