Housing

It has been a long, humbling year for me and my boys. 

As a 23 year old single mother of two toddlers I’ve always depended on working overtime when needed at the hospital I was employed at. Since March, ironically enough hours have been very limited since elective procedures were canceled for a large portion of the year. This resulted in me going from receiving checks averaging 100-120 hours to seeing checks with only 30-40 hours for months. While I didn’t enjoy working so much before it was A HUGE RELIEF to be able to depend on overtime when short on funds. We never went without. I budgeted well and we’ve always been okay even in a single parent home. Since there were no shifts to pick up for so long, I fell insanely behind on bills during this time period as my priority became just keeping my babies fed and my head above water. In August I went on FMLA for a surgery that was scheduled for October. In those three months I was unable to make rent and after having my procedure on October 19th, I went through an eviction and was kicked out  while directed to be on bed rest on the 21st of October.

Since October 21st me and my boys havebeen in a hotel room. Hotel fare is insanely expensive and before I can even find affordable housing I have to pay owed rent to my previous complex as NO WHERE will allow me to move in with money owed due to evictions. Really my back is against the wall as I’ve completely run out of options. 

My goal is to get my boys into stable housing, Get our belongings out of storage and caught up on bills so I can start 2021 afresh and forget about the nightmare that 2020 has been!
