Help Melissa Foster

I'm moving, for better or worse!  I don't want to move, but it's happening.  The upside I can get an extra bedroom now and foster TWO kids instead of one.  I am technically already certified for two kids but due to the program I work with, the amount of trauma these kids have faced, even siblings aren't allowed to share a bedroom.  As some of you know, I'm working primarily with 5-10 year old kids.  I originally got into this to support siblings being separated in care, but that hasn't worked out between the bedrooms and the program.  

I love fostering.  The kids I work with have severe trauma responses that have resulted in behaviors that get the kids kicked out of numerous foster homes and failed adoptions.  I am a therapeutic foster home.  It's changed my life, and I cannot believe I am begging to do a job that so few people want but Portland landlords and housing market have not made this any easier, if not impossible.  It took me four years to find a house I could rent and afford, and now I have to move again.  I'm looking to raise enough money to cover my moving expenses and also prepare to buy a home for these kids.  Just moving is going to cost upwards of $7,000 with first and last months rent plus deposit and general moving expenses.  I really appreciate the support of my community to help make this happen!!

Any and all funds raised will be used strictly for housing my foster kids.
