A Home for Reggie's Family in Haiti

Donation protected
Our adopted son, Reggie, is from a family of 11 in Les Cayes, Haiti.  We were just informed that their home, and livelihood, have been destroyed by Hurricane Matthew.   We are asking you to invest in their future with us so that they can rebuild their home and their lives.

Reggie was 9 months old when he came to receive treatment for hydrocephalus, which is the build-up of spinal fluid within the skull.  Over a 6 month period, he underwent 5 surgeries which released the pressure on his brain, and brought him back to good health.  Reggie then returned to his family in Haiti who loved him dearly.  A month later we received a call informing us that Reggie was sick and needed more medical treatment.  Soon after, Reggie was back home with us, and it became clear that he was going to need long term care and therapies that are not available in Haiti.  With the blessing of his family, we adopted Reggie, which has allowed him to get the care he has needed to survive and thrive.  Our lives have been blessed with the gift of Reggie and our continued relationship with his family.

Reggie, now in 4th grade, is full of personality.  He is optimistic, witty, caring, and friendly and his love is infectious to anyone who encounters him.  Contrary to doctor's predictions, Reggie is reading, writing and improving his walking skills each and every day.

Our commitment to Reggie extends to his amazing family in Les Cayes, Haiti.  This includes his 8 siblings, Lexon, Gilan, O’Donald, Nieka, Jama, Gedina, Jenika and Marcos and his parents Geslin and Dieudirest.  The picture above shows some of both our families while on a visit to their home in Les Cayes.  It was a nice mountaintop home, and we are so sad to hear of its complete destruction, and the massive devastation of the entire village of Les Cayes which was at the epicenter of Hurricane Matthew.

We ask you to consider making a financial contribution to help us assist Reggie's family get back on their feet again.  Right now, we are investigating all of the options which including renting, rebuilding, and even relocating to a nearby village.  We appreciate your trust in us as we work with them and trusted friends in Haiti to determine the best way forward.

Eventually, we would like to help buy them a piece of land to build a permanent house (after talking with someone tonight I realized I truly underestimated the cost of land, home and temporary housing and our stretch goal is $25,000-30,000). Your contribution and support is treasured, and we are forever grateful for your help!!!

Love, Janie, Pete, Luke, Grant, Wilson, Oliver and Reggie
