H.O.P.E.’s Heroes New Outreach Center

H.O.P.E’s Hero’s Outreach Team is a group of dedicated volunteers that have been working proactively within our community to reach out to our most vulnerable population, those without a home. 

We got our start by hiking into the Bush, visiting campsites, sidewalks and alleyways, at all hours of the day and night providing care packages and safety checks to ensure people’s wellbeing. This had a tremendous impact on the lives of these people so we decided to extend our services,first, by opening H.O.P.E’s Kitchen as a pay it forward style restaurant, and since by developing it into an outreach center. 

We have learned that there is always room to grow and change to better address the needs of these people, and have since found a new, larger space to make the  accommodations to serve more. 

Our services currently include the provision of a safe space, warm-up meals, survival items, clothing, and shuttle service to the low barrier shelter. With the new location we are hoping to extend those services to include counselling, art therapy and other activities, shower and laundry facilities and assistance with job hunting, securing housing and a point of communication between our guests and other agencies.

At the moment, we are operating as an independent not-for-profit business, but we are actively working towards becoming a registered Charity. What this means is that we are not currently receiving any sort of funding by an government agency, and have been relying heavily on donations from both the community and ourselves to remain in operation, aid in remodelling the new location, and to extend our services to better assist our guests.
