Mom, You’re Our Miracle

Seven months ago, our world nearly shattered. My mom contracted a rare brain infection that doctors told us is almost always terminal. We were told to prepare for the worst. Instead, we chose prayer, hope, and to fight alongside her.

Since then, we’ve watched her endure hospital stays, pulmonary embolisms, debilitating gastrointestinal issues, unrelenting fatigue, life long medications and brain tissue necrosis. Each time, she pushes forward. Each time, she reminds us what true strength looks like.

But behind the scenes, our family has been stretched in every way — emotionally, physically, and financially. I had to leave my job in EMS to care for Mom full-time. She was not only my biggest support but also my childcare for my son, Andrew.

Mom has always been our rock. She stood beside me when Andrew, as an infant, was life-flighted for airway reconstruction and fought through multiple diagnoses. She has been the steady hand guiding me, the loving grandmother supporting Andrew alongside her most loved children and grandchildren and a lifeline for so many who know and love her.

Now, it’s our turn to be that for her.

Why We Need Help

After months of prayer and planning, we’ve made the difficult decision to relocate from Florida to Arizona so we can be closer to family and provide Mom with more personal long-term care provided by family. This move is essential for both her health and for Andrew’s education, as Arizona provides much stronger tuition support for children with Autism.

But the financial strain is overwhelming. Our needs include:
1. Outstanding Medical bills from repeated hospitalizations.
2. Insurance benefits owed but still unresolved from needed leave of absence.
3. Relocation expenses to Arizona.
4. Unexpected legal fees related to custody and relocation proceedings.

The legal part is one I never thought I’d have to share publicly and have always kept it a private matter. Andrew’s biological father who doesn’t currently live in the state of Florida, has been absent nearly his whole life, but because of his recent actions, we’ve been forced into a relocation order process to protect Andrew and ensure we can move.

How You Can Help

We’ve always leaned on faith and prayer, and we’re so grateful to those who have supported us in that way. Today, we’re asking for more. Any contribution will help us continue to care for Mom, transition to Arizona, and provide Andrew with the stability and education he deserves.

Mom is a miracle. She’s fought for her life every single day since her diagnosis. With your help, we can keep fighting for her too.

From the bottom of our hearts — thank you.
