It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Venkat “Venky” Maram, who left us far too soon on November 18, 2025, at the age of 49. Venky lived his life with joy, generosity, and an energy that touched every person he met. He had an incredible gift for lighting up a room the moment he walked in—his smile, his wit, and his fun-loving spirit were utterly contagious. Whether you were a toddler just learning your way through the world or an elder with decades of stories, Venky made you feel seen, valued, and cared for. He touched countless lives through his warmth and joyful spirit, and his love for movies, cricket, music, and cooking. Hosting friends and family for meals was his way of spreading happiness and making memories that will last forever.

On Monday, November 3rd, 2025, Venky was suddenly hospitalized at Duke University Hospital in Durham after collapsing due to an acute brain bleed. Despite immediate medical support, he suffered a severe second bleed two days later and remained in a deep coma for the following ten days, until his passing on November 18th. The acute bleeds caused irreversible brain damage, and all interventions could not overcome their devastating effects.

Even in his final moments, Venky’s generosity endured—he selflessly donated several of his organs, giving the gift of life to others and extending his legacy in the most meaningful way.

Above all, Venky was devoted to his loving wife and their two children, aged 12 and 16, who now face life without their beloved father.
