I’ve had the privilege of calling Rich one of my closest friends for more than a decade. We first met back in 2011, and not long after, we helped start the Canadian chapter of Aftermath, our custom car and truck club. Anyone who knows this community knows that it’s more than a hobby—it’s a family.

And Rich has always been the kind of friend who shows up for others, no matter the distance or the circumstances. Our friendship has survived years, miles, and life changes, because true friends aren’t measured by how often you see each other, but by the loyalty and love that never go away.

Today, I feel it’s my responsibility to bring our community together to support Rich, Melanie, and their beautiful, blended family of six as they face the most difficult chapter of their lives.

Life changed for them dramatically when Melanie was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer after months of unexplained illness. Despite surgeries, treatments, and unimaginable strength, the cancer has continued to spread. After more than 21 rounds of chemotherapy in two years, Melanie has now made the heartbreaking decision to stop treatment and focus on the time she has left with her family.

This diagnosis has placed an enormous emotional, financial, and physical strain on their home. Rich continues working while also being Melanie’s caregiver. Their youngest son, 11-year-old Maverik, neurodivergent and full of heart, is trying to navigate a world that already feels complicated, now while watching his parents endure something no child should have to witness. Their older daughters, already carving their own paths in the world, are trying to hold strength while processing the reality that time with their mom is becoming limited.

Yet through all of this, the Horrill family has shown a level of courage, unity, and love that is nothing short of inspiring. They have rebuilt their lives more than once, overcome challenges most families never face, and continued to find beauty in the world around them. Their resilience deserves to be honored.

As Melanie prepares to spend her remaining time in peace, her wish is to travel to Costa Rica, a place of warmth, nature, and healing, where she hopes to find comfort and spiritual grounding. Rich hopes to take time away from work to be by her side, and their children deserve opportunities to create meaningful, joyful memories in the time they have left together. A special trip for Maverik to experience happiness and play during this painful season would mean more than words can express.

I’m asking our community, our automotive family, friends, and anyone moved by their story, to help give the Horrill family what truly matters: time together, peace, comfort, and memories they can hold forever.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting them during this unimaginable journey. Your generosity will help them find light, love, and dignity in the time they have left as a family.

Cheers,
Brad & the Aftermath Canada Crew!!
