Honoring Dave's Life & Spirit - SHS Class of 2010

It has been four months since our beloved classmate, Dave Khrakovsky, suddenly passed away. Dave’s family and friends have remained in our hearts and minds as they continue to mourn his passing, and figure out what it means to live life without Dave by their side.
Dave was the person who made everyone feel seen, happy, safe, accepted, and loved. His light, his smile, his intellect, his sense of humor, his friendship, and his love for those who were lucky enough to call him a friend or family touched each of us.
It is clear we have the opportunity to honor Dave’s incredible life and memory by coming together as a class to do so. Working closely with two of Dave’s closest friends, Cam O’Neil and Dana Zeman, we hope to raise funds to cover the cost of a beautiful bench and plaque* in Dave’s memory for the SHS baseball field. *We might be able to purchase more than one depending on how much we raise.
We will be working closely with the town to ensure that as part of the high school/baseball field redesign, we can create a space honoring Dave in one of the places he loved most - the baseball field. We are also looking forward to planning a memorial softball game (for summer 2021, world/health events permitting!) in Dave’s honor. We promise we will have plenty of Crescent Ridge (Dave’s favorite) for everyone.
As the pandemic continues to disrupt so many of life’s plans, it is clear that we will not be able to gather for our ten year class reunion in the coming weeks. In normal times, I can only imagine how meaningful it would have been to toast to Dave and his life - together. I have every intention of rescheduling our postponed reunion for the future when the world permits us to gather safely. I can’t wait to see each of you.
In Dave’s honor, I am hopeful/asking that you will join me in donating what would have been the cost of your reunion drink tickets ($30) as a donation to help us purchase the bench(s). If you are not in a position to donate at that level, or at all, I would be very happy to figure out a way for you to meaningfully participate in our class’ effort to honor Dave’s memory.
