Honoring Arturo: Support His Medical Bills

In 2022, a little cat named Arturo was found abandoned by his previous owners and wounded. I knew immediately I wanted to foster him to give him a safe space where he could be reminded what it's like to be a pampered indoor cat.

The first day I brought him home, he was terrified. His previous owners had clearly abused him, and his time outdoors after being abandoned has scarred him both physically and emotionally, as he came in with lacerations in several parts of his body.

As his foster parent, I watched him transform from a scared baby, who would shake at the sound of my voice, or run away as soon as I entered the room to feed him, into a trusting companion who stole my heart with a single head-butt.

I spent 4 weeks reading about how to socialize fearful cats, reading to him every day from far away so he could get used to my voice.

One day, after a month of no physical contact between us, suddenly, came up to me and head-butted me, and I could not believe it.

I knew then I had to adopt him, as he had grown so much since he was first brought in. He now felt safe and trusted me to pet him! And I couldn't be more happy that Arturo felt safe and happy.

Arturo's journey filled me with love and warmth. His gentle spirit and insatiable desire for cuddles endeared him to everyone he met. He was more than just a pet; he was family.

Tragically, on April 19th, 2024, Arturo's world went dark as he lost his sight without warning. Despite countless visits to the vet and a valiant fight, his condition only worsened, leaving us heartbroken and helpless. He began to lose the ability to walk, stopped eating, and we could see his condition was quickly deteriorating.

Now, as we mourn the loss of our beloved Arturo, we are faced with the burden of his medical expenses. The bills from his emergency care weigh heavily on our hearts and wallets, threatening to overshadow the memories of his playful antics and unwavering affection.
