Honor Kenneth's Legacy: Support His Family

Kenneth was so much to so many, a man with many titles. Each family member & friend has amazing stories about the years they’ve shared with Ken. We could fill this entire page with smiles and tears as we tell you about this fiery Cajun who would transform into a giant teddy bear for his loved ones.
Kenneth was my “Pappa” & my legal guardian my entire adolescence. A father during a time in life I did not have one. That was the kind of man he was. He stepped up to care & provide for his stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, & was months away from meeting his first great-great-granddaughter. Kenneth & his wife Arlene sacrificed their retirement years to raise family. Pappa worked as a long-haul trucker & any semi-truck we’d see instantly reminded us of him. While most men his age retired & enjoyed time fishing or golfing, Pappa worked continuously to provide for children that were not his. Truly the greatest sacrifice a man can make; to love, care, & provide for his family.
Life took a turn, however, when a semi-truck accident changed everything. Pappa was unable to physically work & medical bills piled in. For years the family has lived on very little, often struggling to buy groceries. This was extremely painful for Kenneth as he had been the provider all his life, and now was unable to help. This led to emotional & mental distress that caused even more physical hardship on Kenneth. The past 5 years have been the hardest the family has ever faced. Watching this strong provider we could always count on, slowly slipping away. Health ailments started to consume him & we realized this time, there was no recovery. The past year we’ve had to watch our Husband, Dad, Pappa, Grandpa, Brother, Friend, slip away little by little.
He unfortunately had no life insurance, no savings, no retirement accounts. Everything has been survival mode for years.
There are no funds for a funeral. Every decision Kenneth’s wife has to make is with the constant question, how much is that going to cost? How can a family show respect & honor to their hero when the cost of a cremation alone is food money for the next 6 months. On top of grief, financial hardship is too heavy of a weight. I am facilitating this account so family & friends can come together to help the family Kenneth left behind. Those still under his roof, who were by his side every day. These funds will go towards the cremation, an urn of his wife’s choosing, the numerous death certificates needed, and whatever is leftover I, granddaughter, will send out monthly for grocery money. Absolutely any amount helps honor Kenneth & what he had to leave behind.
