Honn Family Medical and Home

Hi, we’re the Honn family, David and Julie, and our three children, Chris, Jocelyn, and Alexis. We need your help. In the past few years, life has hit us hard and we’re no longer able to keep ourselves afloat. Below is a summary of some of the challenges we’ve faced that have led us to where we are now.

In December 2021, Julie underwent surgery to remove a mass that turned out to be Leiomyosarcoma. The surgery was a complete success, but LMS is an aggressive form of cancer with a high recurrence rate, so frequent CT scans and oncology appointments have been, and will continue to be, necessary. We’ve been keeping up for the most part, but bills are now starting to pile up.

Earlier this year, both of our vehicles experienced significant difficulties, one of which required a full replacement of the motor, resulting in thousands of dollars in repairs. We managed to get those costs covered with the assistance of family, but it drained what little savings we had.

For two years now, David has been dealing with knee pain that has steadily worsened to the point where he is now unable to walk. On May 26, he will undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus and replace lost cartilage with scar tissue. We don’t know how we are going to cover the $2,000+ that insurance won’t cover. This surgery will also put him out of work while he recovers, adding to our existing financial strain. It also now seems that David may be facing additional health concerns that will necessitate more procedures before his surgery as well. Depending on the results of those tests, we may be facing additional tests and/or treatment following his surgery.

Now, the breaking point has hit with a necessary home repair. Our shower began leaking into our kitchen, and we will need to replace the shower, repair the walls and floor around it, and repair the kitchen ceiling. We have no savings and no ability to take out a loan after maxing out our options to help make ends meet in the face of our other challenges. We have both been working overtime trying to rebuild our savings, but it seems like every time we start to get ahead, another challenge comes along to drain it what little we’ve scrounged together.

We need help. We know times are tough for many, but if you are able to spare a little bit, we may be able to bunch those little bits together into a life raft to keep us from drowning. Funds from this GoFundMe will first be used towards the home repair. If, by some miracle, we meet our original goal, additional funds will go towards our medical expenses.
