Hi!
We are Lilas and Adèle, two first year students in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London. We are taking part in a project led by Global Brigades, a non-profit organisation.
In order to help them, we are going with a group of students to Honduras in September 2018.
To provide a clean water supply network within the community, we will work on setting up filtration systems, digging trenches and installing pipelines to connect houses to a source storage tank. We will also construct sanitation stations with latrines and showers, to provide for families a clean environment and reduce chances of disease.
Along with this manual work, we will also educate the community members about hygienic habits related to water use (how wash their hands and brush their teeth,...).
We need funding to participate to the purchase of tools for the construction such as the pipelines, cement, shovels,... A part of the fund will ensure that once we will leave the site, this water system is monitored and maintained by trained local community commitees or in case of a bigger need, allow the intervention of an employee of Global Brigades. We also need help to buy flight tickets.
