Holywood Men's Shed

The Holywood men's shed is a social community group that provides a safe, dry, community learning space for predominantly retired members of the community and community members out of work due to mental health issues. The men's shed charity aims to prevent social isolation, provide a space for skill sharing, and engage with community development.

The Holywood men's shed has been running for around 7 / 8 years now; we currently support 25 volunteer members and engage in arts and crafts, woodwork and community development.

We periodically run community events such as forest schools, foraging events, Easter egg hunts, Halloween parties etc.

Over the past few years, as part of our inclusion for all programme, we have worked very hard on an enchanted sensory garden that is free to use and open to the public 24/7; it has been proven very popular with families and community groups alike.

Unfortunately, the sheltered sensory gardens have been vandalised repeatedly. The damage caused has been devastating to the volunteers who put countless hours of effort into creating it & the families that use the garden.

After widespread condemnation of the destruction & support from the community, we have reluctantly agreed to get CCTV installed as a deterrent against future attacks.

We need £2000 to repair the damage caused and install the CCTV system. As we are non-funded, we cannot afford this at present. However, we are eager to get the space back to its former glory so that people can once again enjoy it. Please help with any amount you can afford.
