Eagle Scout Project

My name is Timothy Daly. I am a Boyscout of Troop 464 in Ruthsburg, Maryland. After having been in the Troop many years and progressing through the different ranks I am finally working on the highest achievement in Boyscouts. This achievement is the Eagle Scout rank, which is the highest rank a Scout can achieve before aging out. The requirements to achieve Eagle Scout are much like the other ranks except for one requirement, and that is to lead a project which benefits the community.
Once I had reached the stage of deciding what to do for my project, I approached the Pastor of the church I attend for ideas of things to do. Originally I asked if he wanted to refinish the pews in the church because we have been adding pieces to the church that no longer match in color. Unfortunately, because of logistical reasons, I would have been unable to accomplish this quickly and easily as there are masses provided every day. He suggested that I head over to our church's cemetery, Holy Cross Cemetery, to have a look at the grounds and talk to the cemetery supervisor about what can be done there. After this meeting, I had decided I would install a cross and several benches, in a square, around the cross.
The reason I had picked this as my project was because after looking over the grounds of the cemetery, I had noticed that there wasn't a cross or any sort of representation to well define the cemetery's name. I also added the benches around the cross because there is no place in the cemetery that is adequate for praying or to revere the dead or fallen.
