We decided this is a much bigger problem. We are raising funds for this mural and for future murals that will be placed around the Sacramento area and other cities. Let's help more families heal.
Did you know that every 23 minutes someone is murdered, every six minutes a woman is raped and as you read this 2 people will be robbed in this country, and 2 more will be shot, stabbed, or seriously beaten? More than 50 percent of these crimes go unreported. Who are these victims?
Leilani Beauchamp Murdered
She died tragically 19 years young on October 30, 2021.
Leilani was pursuing her degree in Arts in San Jose California. She loved art, music and design. She desired to study and work in the field of cosmetology. Her fun and adventurous spirt planned to develop a YouTube video channel about green houses. She dreamed about traveling to faraway lands. She was uncertain about many things at her young age, but she wasted no time trying out anything she could to gain experience. She was fearless and determined. Leilani is survived by her family — mother, father, stepdad, grandparents, great grandparents. Most of all she is survived by her brother Anthony, age 15, who adored her as she adored him and her sister Sierrah, age 6, who considered Leilani her best friend and mentor.
Sarayah Jade Murdered
Our beloved daughter Sarayah Jade Redmond was 19 years old, her life was tragically taken on September 25th. She was our baby, our world. She had a contagious laughter. She had a truly genuine heart. She always tried to find good in everyone. Family was everything to her. Sarayah’s life was just beginning. She was finding her own way and dreamed of becoming a cosmetologist. She leaves behind her parents Clifford and Jenifer, brothers Clifford Jr and JoVante and two nephews JoVante Jr and Josias as well many adoring family and friends.
Shanda Lee Bigelow Givens Murdered
Shanda Lee Bigelow Givens was born 07/07/1977 and taken from us 01/25/2021. Shanda earned her master's in psychology and was a LMFT as well. We still hear from people whose lives she changed, working with foster children/families and later adults needing guidance. Found in her phone a goals list included getting her doctorate and starting a nonprofit supporting victims of domestic violence. She loved traveling, kayaking, football, games and being goofy with her son. She had a strong work ethic, was determined, particular and loved helping others. Leaving heartbroken so many that loved her, but most importantly her young son.
Michelle Benavidez Murdered
Michelle was 30 years old when her life was taken tragically. She was the only child to Rachel Benavidez. She loved to dance; she was still trying to find her way in this life. She graduated from Monterey Trail High School, she was married for a short time, she moved to South Lake Tahoe for several years. She was a waitress for IHOP for a few years and attended Lorenzo Patino school of Law. Michelle loved everyone and did not judge anyone. She was a smart young girl. Her mom Rachel Benavidez was everything to her.
Rodney “Boy” Hu Murdered
Rodney Hu owned Goju Karate Studio
He was an incredible martial artist. He understood the movements, the katas, how to generate power," said Anthony Olson, who knew Hu off and on as a karate student at the Rodney Hu Goju Karate facility for nearly twenty years.
To some, Hu was not just a karate instructor, but a mentor for his students. He leaves behind his wife and two children.
