Hilldale Cemetery Signage Eagle Scout Project

UPDATE: I have reached the fundraising goal!!  Thank you to everyone who gave and shared.  I have started ordering the materials and will soon be assembling the signs.  

Hi, my name is Brandon Silva and I am fundraising to help pay for signs in the Hilldale Cemetery in Haverhill. I chose this Eagle Scout project so that I can help people find their ancestors/loved ones and honor the veterans whose memorials are placed there.

 

Hilldale cemetery is a 20-acre public cemetery in Haverhill, Massachusetts founded in 1859. It is a 501(c) 13 tax-exempt non-profit. There are 4,816 graves, 474 of which are veterans from all conflicts. The cemetery hosts Wreaths Across America annually. It is the home of a veteran's memorial and has annual remembrances for both veteran's and memorial day.

 

Over the years, the cemetery has fallen into disrepair and neglect, but a group of volunteer board members now works with the community to restore and retain its integrity. My Eagle Scout project will further support the efforts.

 

Your donation will help pay for the materials I will use to make the signs with a group of volunteers. I plan to place the signs in the ground in the Spring of 2022. If you are local, you will be able to go and visit the cemetery and see what your donation has paid for. I will also post pictures of progress on the Hope for Hilldale Facebook page .
