Hallo, ich bin Pauline, 21 Jahre alt, Studentin und sammle Spenden für meinen Freund Caleb. Caleb ist 20 Jahre alt und kommt aus Melbourne, Australien. Anfang 2019 bin ich als Au-pair-Mädchen nach Australien gereist. Dort habe ich Caleb kennengelernt. Kurz nach meiner Ankunft zurück in Deutschland ist Caleb mir gefolgt und blieb für 3 Monate zu Besuch. Er verließ das Land nur wenige Wochen, bevor das Coronavirus im März 2020 zuschlug. Nach 9 Monaten Fernbeziehung ergab sich für uns die Möglichkeit, Caleb wieder zurück nach Deutschland zu holen. Ursprünglich wollte er nur wieder für 3 Monate zu Besuch kommen. Die Freude des Wiedersehens war groß, doch die Ernüchterung kam als klar wurde, dass Caleb nicht zurück nach Australien kommt. Die Grenzen sind zu und die Preise der Flüge gingen ins Unermessliche. Kurz darauf fingen wir an für Caleb einen Job zu suchen, denn sein Geld wurde knapp. Ewige Streitigkeiten mit der Ausländerbehörde und unzählige Job-Absagen erschwerten uns das Leben. Nun ist Caleb mittlerweile seit fast einem Jahr hier in Deutschland und möchte einfach nur zurück Nachhause. Momentan leben wir beide von meinem Studentenjob. Er vermisst seine Familie und möchte gern wieder arbeiten um seine Familie auch finanziell unterstützen. Calebs Mutter ist alleinerziehend und sorgt sich momentan um seine 4 Brüder. Das Geld ist knapp und Caleb möchte helfen, die Miete zu bezahlen. Doch die Flüge sind teuer und man wird gezwungen, eine 2-wöchige Quarantäne zu absolvieren, welche 3000 $ kostet. Die gesamte Heimreise, inklusive Quarantäne und Anschlussflüge würde uns ungefähr 5000 € kosten. Ich als Studentin kann mir das leider einfach nicht leisten, obwohl ich ihm liebend gern den Wunsch erfüllen würde, endlich seine Familie wieder zu sehen.

At the beginning of 2019 I traveled to Australia as an au pair girl. That's where I met Caleb. Shortly after my arrival back in Germany, Caleb followed me and stayed to visit for 3 months. He left the country just a few weeks before the Corona Virus hit in March 2020. After 9 months of long-distance relationship, we had the opportunity to bring Caleb back to Germany. Originally he only wanted to visit again for 3 months. The joy of seeing each other again was great, but soon we realised that he was not able to go back to Australia. The borders are closed and the prices of the flights went immeasurably. Shortly afterwards we started looking for a job for Caleb because his money was running out. Eternal disputes with the immigration authorities and countless job rejections made life difficult for us. Caleb has been here in Germany for almost a year now and just wants to go back home. At the moment we both live from my part time job. He misses his family and would like to work again and help his family financially aswell. But the flights are expensive and there is a inevitable 2 weeks quarantine, which costs 3000$. The entire journey home, including quarantine and connecting flights, would cost around € 5,000. Unfortunately, as a student, I just can't afford that, although I would love to grant him his wish to finally see his family again.
