Hickory Hills FD Jaws of Life

The general public will benefit from the battery-operated ‘jaws of life equipment’ that will be purchased by successfully reaching the goal of this fundraiser.
Hickory Hills Fire Protection District #1 (Hickory Hills FD) is located in an unincorporated region in eastern Oklahoma County, and is responsible to serve the residents and the general public in a 22.5 square-mile area.
The (soon to be opened) Kickapoo Turnpike traverses through the area served by Hickory Hills FD. As such, we anticipate the need to respond to vehicle accidents on this high-speed highway. Battery-operated extrication equipment (aka Jaws of Life) is a crucial component to the timely rescue of an entrapped patient resulting from a vehicle accident/collision. This battery-operated extrication equipment is fast and powerful, and it is also very expensive. This fundraiser was established to raise money to purchase the needed extrication equipment.
The portion of the Kickapoo Turnpike that traverses though the Hickory Hill FD district is scheduled to open in September 2020. Therefore, the sooner we can achieve our fundraising goal, the quicker we can purchase the extrication equipment. We would like to have the extrication equipment in-place prior to the opening of the Kickapoo Turnpike, so that we have the necessary tools to respond to any vehicle accidents that may occur.
We have been working hard to raise the funds ourselves. On 22 August 2020, two of our volunteer firefighters organized and sponsored a Team Roping fundraising event, and donated the proceeds to Hickory Hills FD. We are very fortunate we have team members who continue to donate their time and energy to serve the community. On 28 & 29 August, we will have a Garage Sale fundraising event at our Fire Station (10801 Lori Ln, Luther OK, 73054). All of the items in the Garage Sale fundraising event have been donated by numerous people in our district and local community – we are very grateful to everyone who has donated items for the Garage Sale. With the anticipated proceeds from these events, we are still a long way away from the needed funds to cover the cost of the extrication equipment.
