Help Trinity Triumph

Donation protected

On February 12, 2016, a severely injured dog was brought into Calaveras County Animal Services by a Good Samaritan who was helping with cleanup in the area devastated by the Butte Fire.  Upon arriving at the shelter, the staff immediately transferred her to Angels Camp Veterinary Hospital for emergency treatment.  After examining the extremely traumatic injuries, veterinarians confirmed the shelter staffs’ suspicions that this poor baby had been used as a bait dog by a dog fighting ring.  Her face was unrecognizable, swollen to many times its normal size and covered with deep, bleeding gashes. She had punctures and tears on her ears and all over her head, as well as an enormous swelling in her chest, and multiple other punctures and scrapes. Her prognosis was guarded, but without immediate care, odds of her surviving were nonexistent.

In spite of her extreme pain, suffering, and abuse at the hands of those who had tortured her, she remained an incredibly loving, sweet, gentle soul! We knew we had to give her a chance to have a better life and to know that humans can be good. While visiting her on our lunch hour, as she climbed into our laps, we decided her name had to be Trinity, as a tribute to the three stages of her life – her horrible past, her painful present, and the wonderful future we know she has in store!

Unfortunately, Calaveras County’s budget has been hit hard by the Butte Fire, and our animal shelter is extremely limited in its ability to handle large medical cases like this one, but the staff knew we had to try to save this sweet baby! That’s when the idea hit us to reach out to our community that pulled together so strongly in the months past! Your donation will help pay for what we anticipate to be an expensive and time-consuming journey. Should we exceed the funds needed to pay for Trinity’s care, the funds will stay in a special account to be used only for injured animals.
