Herges Family Medical Expense Fund

Back in 2000, our brother-in-law, Toby, was diagnosed with a brain tumor, an oligodendro astrocytoma. It was successfully resected at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. In 2005, a second tumor was treated with radiation and chemotherapy, also at the Mayo Clinic. Then, in the Spring of 2015 that tumor began to grow again and he began a full year of daily chemotherapy.  

Last November (2016) he suffered an acute ischemic stroke which casued him to lose full use of his left leg and arm.  He has been in intense PT and OT weekly to regain his strength to only have yet another setback.  Two weeks ago, (January 31st, 2017) Toby suffered a 15 cm subdural hematoma, brain bleed.  

Toby will be recovering from both episodes for quite some time. His forward care plan will include continued  intensive outpatient PT and OT, frequent monitoring and tests and continued quarterly trips to the Mayo Clinic, as well as, doctor visits at home. Expenses are exorbitant.

Toby and our sister, Christine, have 4 children. If we lived closer, I know we would be of greater help, with distance as a factor, we decided to start this campaign as a way to ease their burdens.
