Hereford Help for Ukraine
Donation protected
My name is Olga, born in Ukraine and living in Hereford for the last 26 years. As with so many people around the World I am completely heartbroken by the war in Ukraine, and am desperately worried for family, friends and the whole community there who are living in constant fear, with food and other essential supplies running low. I decided I needed to take immediate action to help as much as I could so I set up a Facebook page asking for humanitarian aid donations. See our Facebook page here https://www.facebook.com/groups/502987708103279
Over the last 2 weeks I have been overwhelmed with the generosity of the local community, who have not only volunteered to help with this cause, but have also donated food, medical supplies, hygiene products, camping equipment and other essential supplies for the people of Ukraine. So much so, that I have now had to find a warehouse in which to store, sort and pack the supplies - a very big thank you to Hereford County Council for allowing us to use one of their warehouses free of charge - their help is so appreciated.
The next big challenge is getting the supplies to the people of Ukraine. One group of volunteers has already driven the first full lorry load to a Ukrainian warehouse in Poland and did this free of charge for us ... a truly amazing and generous gesture.
But to continue to send lorry loads of goods over we will need to cover the cost of further shipments, with each one costing approximately £2500. So now I am asking if you could donate whatever you can afford to allow us to continue to transport these essential, life-saving supplies to the people of Ukraine.
Thank you so much.
