Here to Erie - Community Cleanup Fundraiser

Proceeds benefit Pittsburgh Street Stewards & Allegheny Clean Ways.
I was all set to do an Ironman off the coast of Spain at the end of May. If you're not familiar, thats a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and a 26.2 mile run. Unfortunately, COVID threw a wrench into that plan. So instead of going to Spain, I'm going to run the race from here to Erie.
The race starts in my bed at 6AM on Saturday morning (May 22, 2021). I'm running out of my apartment in South Side, down 21st St. to the South Side Boat Launch, where I'm hopping in the Monongahela River for the swim.
The swim ends at Heinz Field where I'll hop on my bike and get headed north. The route I picked goes out 51 over to Beaver Falls, to New Castle, up to Mercer where I'll get Rt 19 up to a little town called Venango. If all goes as planned, I'm there in eight hours. I'll close out the day with a little marathon straight to Presque Isle where I'll jump in Lake Erie and call it a day.
Now I'm not doin all this cuz there's somethin wrong with me...that's only half the reason. When I was doing all my training around town, I realized this place could use a little cleaning up. Neighbor Nick and I joined the Pittsburgh Street Stewards in February. The Street Stewards are a casual collective of yinzers who adopt a local block and pick up the trash once a week. The Stewards' founder, Megan O'Malley, pointed me in the direction of Allegheny Clean Ways. They're a nonprofit dedicated to cleaning up the rivers and the lands around town. Now I know both organizations are always looking for a helping hand, but if you're too busy doin all that stuff you're always too busy doin, I set up a GoFundMe that'll benefit both these organizations.
And just to sweeten the deal...anybody who donates $20 or more is entered to win this 2' by 3' Willie Stargell paper collage made by yours truly. Willie is made entirely out of paper and the background is covered in epoxy resin. I'll be picking the winner at random as soon as I get out of the lake on Saturday. Also, to clarify, each $20 counts as an entry so $100 donation = 5 entries.
