As you saw in my YouTube episode, Arnold Buenviaje is using Lion Dance to help create opportunities and community for the kids from the slums. These kids are living in makeshift shacks along the side of a canal with no running water or proper electricity. As a result, they are often lacking access to basic necessities such as enough food and clothes, and if any misfortune strikes, such as a flood, fire or medical emergency, their families have no means to look after themselves. I was so inspired by their passion and dedication to their training at Wenyang, and seeing how they have been given the opportunity to earn some money through Lion Dancing and also to have the opportunity to travel to compete, that I want to set up an emergency fund that these kids and their families and access if they are in need. I will be regularly updating on this site what the money has been accessed for to make sure it is totally accountable and transparent.
