Helping the Kirk Family

Dave and Kristen Kirk were eagerly checking off their list of things to do as any soon-to-be first time parents do... decide a theme for the nursery, prepare the house, create a registry, plan a baby shower but all of that was put on hold when Covid made its way to the Kirk Home. Shortly after testing positive for Covid-19, Kristen was hospitalized with covid pneumonia. With every passing minute, she became weaker and weaker. As Kristen’s body was struggling to keep up with the needs of herself and the baby, it was decided that she would be placed on a ventilator. With very little signs of improvement, Kristen was transported to Indianapolis and placed on ecmo. At this same time, Dave was diagnosed with Covid pneumonia and was unable to be by Kristen’s side. On Friday, January 14, at just 29 weeks, sweet baby girl Kaci Ella Kirk was born. For 8 long days Kristen remained on ecmo but she was able to let her body rest and heal and is now completely off of all machines and has started her road to full recovery! Baby Kaci will remain in the NICU for some time but she is exceeding all expectations! Kristen is still in the hospital but is improving every single day!

As you can imagine, this is not at all what Dave and Kristen planned for financially. At the moment it is uncertain of when Kristen and Kaci will be able to go home however they soon will be faced with numerous medical bills. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated as both Dave and Kristen have been off of work.
