Our dear friends Allison and Rigo Galarza are walking through an unimaginable season of heartbreak, and many of us have asked how we can help.

On March 7, their youngest son, Dustin Galarza, passed away at just 24 years old after a difficult personal struggle. Dustin was deeply loved by his family and friends, and his loss leaves an enormous hole in the hearts of those who knew him. Even in the midst of tragedy, Dustin will continue to give life to others through organ donation — a reflection of the love and generosity that surrounded him.

Dustin was a proud father to his young son, Kason, and a beloved brother to Brandon, Eric, and Mikael.

This heartbreaking loss comes during an already incredibly difficult time for the family. Dustin’s brother Mikael (28) has been battling serious heart failure. In October 2025, Mikael traveled to Denver for treatment and ultimately underwent major heart surgery. He now has an LVAD and continues working toward recovery. Since that time, Mikael has needed to remain in Denver — nearly six hours from the family’s home in Naturita, Colorado — with Allison or his brother Eric staying there to help care for him.

Eric has been traveling back and forth to support Mikael while also recovering from a recent heart attack of his own. Mikael’s hope has been to return home this spring, but a recent infection has made that timeline uncertain.

Brandon, the oldest brother, and his wife Brook are also raising their three children — Kinzley, Olivia, and Grayson — while supporting the family through this incredibly painful time.

The Galarza family is deeply loved in the Nucla and Naturita communities, and many people have asked how they can help during this heartbreaking time.

This fundraiser is being created by friends who care deeply for this family and want to help ease some of the financial burdens they are facing. Donations will help support:

• Funeral and memorial expenses for Dustin

• Travel and lodging related to Mikael’s continued medical care in Denver

• Lost work time and other unexpected expenses as the family grieves and supports one another
