Helping our friend Christina

Hi, my name is Andrea and I am organizing a GoFundMe for my tireless friend and co-worker, Christina Hauptman. As many of you know, Christina is a family peer advocate in Long Island's children's behavioral health system--rewarding but demanding work that requires an open heart and a ferocious willingness to support others. Now, though, instead of helping others, Christina really needs our help.

Recently, Christina underwent surgery for a gastric bypass. Almost immediately she began experiencing complications, though. Unable to keep down food or liquid post-surgically, she returned to the hospital to receive nutrition. Unfortunately, she contracted an infection through her nutrition tube that resulted in sepsis at that point. Now, Christina is home, severely weakened and still struggling to eat.

She needs financial help to cover her hospitalization co-pays and the ongoing health costs she will incur moving forward as she sees specialists in order to help her regain her ability to eat, as well as to cover some of her living expenses while she recovers.
