My name is Captain Terry Adams, my wife Cindy and I own and operate the Quicksilver and the Reef Roamer a small family owned business.Two snorkel, sailing , Catamarans that we offer three trips daily to take customers out and share the beautiful reefs ,clear water, and sunsets in the Florida Keys. I employ 6-10 people at any given time. We have been out of work since the 5th of September when we started preparing for the strongest hurricane that has hit the Keys since 1935. We have been cleaning up our homes ,helping anyone that we could to try and get basic needs for their homes so they have shelter and food. We still have people couch surfing and those that have lost everything they own. I talk to a freind yesterday that was really happy to get a new pair of tennis shoes and a few cloths so she had something to wear different to work.
This might be the hardest thing the I have ever done because of my pride I am uncomfortable asking for help.
We have insurance so Fema said we dont qualify for assistance and refered us to the SBA. So non-stop we have been gathering information and filling out application for a loan to help pay large deductibles and colect from our insurance. With no guarantee that we get help I have run out of options. If I had all the materials, engines, and labor that I needed it would take til Thanksgiving to get one boat back together and running trips. At the rate things are moving we will be lucky to be back in full operation by Christmas. Our Govenor announced the Keys are open for business but he forgot to ask us if we were ready . The rest of us that are waiting on help are doing everything we can with no funds. We will rebuild and we are going to need the tourist to come and visit as much as possible but we have a long road ahead to get back to where we were before the storm.
So I'm asking for your help . We need some help getting our emloyees back to work and anything we raise beyond what we need we will use to help everyone we can. If you can afford to donate your kindness will be payed forward. We appreciate anything you can do including all the messages and prayers we have already recieved.
