Helping Hand Fundraiser for Harvey

Hi, my name is Brittany...

...and I've worked with Harvey Washington for over a decade. When I first met Harvey, he helped us through an emergency kitchen renovation after a leak left us without a kitchen. From the start, I was drawn to Harvey's kind personality and his genuine desire to help others.

Over the years, Harvey has been a cheerleader and mentor as I learned renovation skills and ultimately earned my general contractor license. Not once did Harvey talk down to me or treat me like a feeble-minded woman. He always urged me to take on more complex tasks, exuding the belief that I could accomplish anything in a male-dominated field. (The world could use a lot more men like Harvey!)

Harvey has gone above and beyond, always lending a helping hand (or arm muscles) when needed. He's bent over backward to help neighbors in our area and even fixed some electrical for a recent widow at no charge.

Those of us that have hired Harvey for electrical work know his work ethic is fantastic. He always completed the job and never disappeared mid-project (sometimes even staying late to finish a tricky installation). He also was always the one who would help out even when it wasn't his job.

Recently Harvey suffered a stroke and has lost the use of his right side. He is unable to work and is unsure when (and if) he'll be able to continue running his business as an electrician. Although Harvey's insurance will help with the medical bills, his day-to-day bills and expenses will certainly cripple his finances. Harvey has a big heart and, consequently, an extended family he provides for. He has four children (the youngest is in her last year of college) and three adopted grandchildren. The stress of being unable to continue to provide for his family is immense.

We all love Harvey and want to give him a helping hand during this trying time. Let's show Harvey how much we appreciate his kindness and compassion by giving back to the man that has given so much to others.
