A Helping Hand for Hector

http://www.eagletribune.com/news/merrimack_valley/two-firefighters-man-taken-to-hospital-after-lawrence-fire/article_aaa49936-968b-5d01-a31f-bb1357924576.html On Father's Day, June 17th, Lil Hector was sleeping when the apartment he shares with his father Hector Iraola and sister Victoria Iraola was filled with toxic fumes and thick black smoke that originally started in the kitchen.  It appears that Lil Hector made an attempt to escape his bedroom but was disoriented and struggling to find a way out when eventually he collapsed onto the floor.

The fire department was able to contain the fire and it was only until after they contained it that they found Lil Hector on the floor semi conscious.  Lil Hector inhaled a tremendous amount of smoke and soot.  He was rushed to Lawrence General Hospital's emergency room.  He was unrecognizable and unconscious.  

Family members quickly filled the emergency room and the home he shared with his sister and father.  There was an overwhelming support from family and friends to remove all their belongings from the 3 bedroom apartment.  Lil Hector was treated for a 1st degree burn and doctors worked quickly to clear his airway and try to get as much soot and smoke out of his lungs and stomach.  Eventually, Lil Hector was transferred to the ICU and after several tests were performed, the doctor's felt it was best that he be transferred to Brigham and Women's ICU/Burn Unit where he is currently receiving treatment and has undergone several procedures. Lil' Hector's road to recovery will no doubt be a long one but we are grateful that he is alive.

Lil' Hector and the family have received an abundance of prayers, get well wishes and offers to help with his recovery.  It is currently unknown how long Lil' Hector will be in the hospital, what his future prognosis will be or how this will effect him mentally.  Lil' Hector, his father Hector and his sister Vicky do not have a place to call home but they are not homeless.  

This page is set up because friends and family would like to lend a helping hand for Hector for any future therapy, treatment, medical bills or expenses.  The family is not asking for donations but will graciously and gratefully accept the help on his behalf to get him the help he needs.
