Support R4R's Vital Emergency Relief Efforts

Since 2017, Refugee 4 Refugee’s emergency relief operations have supported thousands of men, women and children arriving on the Greek Islands. As we experience an influx of new arrivals, we need your support to continue our vital work on Lesvos and Samos.
With winter having arrived and temperatures falling, there is a humanitarian emergency on the Greek islands. On Lesvos, Moria is now over five times its official capacity, with 10,000+ people taking shelter outside of the camp in the expanding Olive Grove. Heavy rain is flooding the camp, and the small non-waterproof camping tents are directly affecting the health and hygiene conditions of those forced to live within this area.
R4R is reinforcing its efforts on the ground: to provide dry shelters and comfortable living conditions for the residents of the Olive Grove and specifically new arrivals, that often don’t have access to basic needs such as running water, toilets, or electricity. As our volunteers dedicate their time to setting up new tents on our rented land, we continue to sort donations in our warehouse and distribute thousands of clothing items every month in our free shop.
The situation on Samos is similarly dire, with overcrowding now at its highest point since it opened in early 2016. With a capacity of 650 people, there are currently over 7000 asylum seekers on the island, many of whom live in the olive groves around the camp. Earlier this month, R4R volunteers distributed hundreds of warm blankets, tarps, hygiene kits and rain coats to prepare residents for the winter.
We need your support to continue this vital work. In the month of December, we are hoping to raise over £15,000 to support R4R. As part of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) community initiative, all donations contributed to our fundraising campaign will be doubled!
