Helping boys off the street in Uganda
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
Over the past few weeks, I've had the incredible opportunity to spend time in Uganda, meeting some truly remarkable individuals. One of the most impactful experiences has been participating in a street program in the Kisenyi slums. Here, I've encountered some of the kindest and most resilient boys I've ever met. Despite their challenging circumstances, they always greet us with smiles and warmth.
In this program, we provide counselling, medical care, haircuts, washing, games, and meals. Many of these boys have faced unimaginable hardships—abuse, abandonment, and much worse. Some are simply searching for a way to get back home.
Over the last few weeks one young man, Herbert (pictured above) has told me his story and it broke my heart. His mother passed away in 2020, and after living with his sister who could no longer afford to keep him, he ended up on the streets. Herbert now works at a chapatti stand, earning just enough to clean his clothes and eat, yet he still sleeps on the streets every night. Over the past few weeks, I've come to know Herbert well, and he's shared his dream of becoming a chef. I promised him that I would do everything in my power to make that dream a reality.
I am raising funds to help Herbert attend a two-year culinary boarding school and to support the many other deserving boys who live on the streets. My time here has been incredibly eye-opening. We often take for granted the free education, healthcare, and other resources we have in the West. These boys need our help, and any kindness you can offer would mean the world to them.
Thank you for your generosity and support
