Helping a village grow
Donation protected
We are a group of three women Merryn, Ali and Sue, who first went to Cambodia in 2015. We were instanly struck by the warmth and generosity of a people who are still recovering from decades of civil war. Yet they are some of the happiest, most hopeful people we've met. We knew immediately we would one day return to give back to these beautiful people. We propose to return in June with a group of likeminded people to spend time doing yoga and volunteering where it's needed most. We hope to be able to raise enough money to help donate food supplies to Touch a life, an organisation that feeds families in need in Siem Reap. We also hope to help out a wonderful school near Phnom Pen; Cambodian Childrens Destiny English school, in Phum O village with the donation of a new computer or two. As Aussies born in this lucky country, we often take for granted our right to a good education. Education brings about change, but it's also expensive. For the cost of a few hundred dollars, we could help out with a new computer. In the words of our friend Tola who volunteers at the school " whatever amount of computers that you could help the children here, we are really happy". We will be self funded for our trip but hope to raise money to donate the computers and food whilst there. Ali is a wonderful yoga teacher and will be running a retreat in December. All proceeds will be donated to the cause. We hope to be able to run a sausage sizzle or two in the lead up to get some extra funds.
