Helping Terry

Terry is a homeless man that lives outside Brenda's Bigger Burger. Pictured above are his only belongings. 
I had the pleasure to meet Terry and learn his story.

Terry is originally from Minnesota where he once had a job. The place where he worked burned down and he was jobless. He lived off what he had for a few months but soon became homeless in the streets of Minnesota. He told me that he almost froze to death in Minnesota and that he knew he had to get further south. Somehow he made it to Fayetteville, AR and I couldn’t be more thankfully that he did. He told me that money was the root of all evil- is that not the truest thing you’ve heard? Not once did he ask me for money, Terry is not a bum.

 
Terry is a true follower of Jesus and knows that God has a plan for him. He told me that he went to church at Central Methodist and that the Pastor at the church helps him out. Just following up with Terry’s story I decided to call the church. I spoke with the churches outreach program coordinator and he told me even more. Terry once tried to join the church choir but couldn’t because he could not make it to the practices. His love for Jesus is truly astounding. I asked the coordinator what his thoughts were about Terry and his exact words were “Terry is Fayetteville’s Finest.”  He also informed me that Terry has a mental illness, which could be the reason he hasn’t been able to keep a job. 


Fayetteville has a rough cold winter and I do not believe that anyone should have to live outside through it. Just walking to class in the winter I freeze, I honestly couldn’t imagine. In a short 12 hours, the amount of clothes and donations I have received is overwhelming. I’m starting this gofundme account to better Terry’s life. Possibly by buying a bike for his transportation and hopefully getting him a room for the winter. The smallest amount would make a huge impact on Terry’s life.  Terry needs help.
