*ADDITIONAL FUNDS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED AND WILL GO TO Z’S NEUROLOGY APPOINTMENT *** Z is a 16 year old with various chronic illnesses that greatly impact their life. They are in need of an electric /power wheelchair. Currently, they are using a manual self-propelled wheelchair which isn’t ideal due to their EDS (Ehlers Danlos syndrome), EDS is a genetic connective tissue disorder. This condition affects joints and bones as well as internal organs. In Z’s case, it causes daily shoulder dislocations which makes propelling themself in the wheelchair very painful. Z uses their wheelchair not only for EDS but also for a condition called POTS, which stands for postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. POTS causes their heart rate to increase drastically when they change position. This causes syncope (also known as fainting) All of the funds will be going towards the purchase of an electric wheelchair that is portable and very useful for Z.
