We are raising funds for an electric true-up bill that is $7,400. Our electricity company has shut off our power due to non-payment but also would not allow us to enter on a payment plan with them either. We managed to get a deal to have power restored at $5,500, which is what this goal is set for.

I live with my wife, daughter, and two younger brothers. We have two pet bearded dragons, three white's tree frogs, and a leopard gecko, all of which need optimal heating to survive.

I have gone through programs to assist before seeking help here, but as I've started to make my normal pay now, I no longer qualify. I will be trying to earn money by selling items, but that will take time as well. I've reached out to churches with minimal luck.

Income-wise, one of my brothers has a small amount of income because of a disability. Besides that, I am the sole source for most money in our household, over 80%.

Which brings me to why we are in this spot. At the end of 2023, we found out that my chronic sickness was from celiac, which has been a rough transition for me over 2024. Not only is it more expensive to eat gluten-free, but stopping eating gluten cold turkey (like I needed to) has made me more sensitive to even the tiniest bit of cross-contamination, which made me unable to work and earn about $20k less last year than I should have.

This is why I'm struggling to pay our true-up.
