Help with Gus’s Treatment and Vet Bill
Spende geschützt
Hi, my name is James and Gus is my best friend, my family and my little life saver. I would not be here if it weren’t for him.
The bump in the road:
Gus was just discharged from the emergency vet after he had developed a urinary blockage. The severity of a urinary blockage cannot be understated and if left untreated it can cause a rapid decline in health, followed by death.
The emergency treatment he has received has removed the blockage and saved his life but we are not out of the woods yet. As his
catheter has now been removed, it is now up to him to recover and be able to toilet on his own. We are monitoring him 24/7 as the chance of the blockage reforming is a scary possibility. If this occurs, we will only have a matter of hours to rush him to the vet again.
The bad:
As most of you know I have recently lost my job due to a back injury and have been left with zero income due to being denied work cover. While I have been fighting to get my life back on track, my partner and I have been hit with obstacles from each direction. As they say “when it rains, it pours” - bad luck has seemed to follow closely this month. This has now left me with a debt that I don’t know how I will manage to pay.
I am not one to ask others for help. I’m usually extremely private with my struggles and it takes a lot for me to be able to accept assistance. When it comes to my baby Gus, I am left with no option other than to ask for help. I understand that we are all struggling at the moment, so I would not take anything personally.
The Vet costs are listed as follows:
Total cost = $3268
Initial emergency vet visit $1600, including scans and diagnostic medical imaging, anaesthetic for procedure, placing of the urinary catheter, IV fluids and medications, pain medication, anti-stress medication, blood and urine testing.
Remaining amount on general vet hospital stay for over 24hrs, further blood and urine testing, medications, IV fluids.
Thank you for taking the time to read Gus’s story. And thank you in advance for any donation you may be able to make, it will all go a long way. Your support will be appreciated endlessly.
