My name is Wendi, and last October I was diagnosed with Stage 3B colon cancer. The diagnosis turned my world upside down. I’ve had two open stomach surgeries, including one that resulted in an ostomy, and I’ve endured months of grueling chemotherapy. The treatments, scans, and lab work have been overwhelming, both physically and financially. I lost my job of 21 years after running out of FMLA, and since then, I’ve struggled to keep up with my bills. My car is at risk of being repossessed, and I’ve fallen behind on rent, phone, and car insurance payments. The cost of ongoing cancer care—chemo, PET scans, CT scans, labs, and colonoscopies—has made it impossible to catch up, especially after nearly a year with no income. I’m also fighting for disability benefits, but the process is slow and uncertain.

Throughout this journey, my children have supported me as much as they can, and my two cats, Didgi and Fluffy, have been my constant companions. They depend on me, and I’m doing everything I can to keep our little family together. Being diagnosed with cancer is devastating. I was anxious, scared, and at times, deeply depressed. You’re never the same person you were before cancer—you’re fighting for your life every day.

I’m asking for help to cover my medical bills, basic living expenses, and to keep my car and home.
