The last day we saw our children, followed by 2 social workers from the orphanage, more than 14 months ago.


Anita's personal experience of the situation:

When the two social workers from Solrød municipality showed up at our apartment in March 2018, I was shocked.
That they could say that they had decided to remove our children was in my ears completely grotesque. We had done nothing wrong. That they said it in front of our children, who were horrified, and then used their reaction as a reason for the removal is also grotesque.
That a complaint, from my husband's family, was taken seriously, I still do not understand. A family that did not know our children, their well-being, or their needs. A family who had not talked to our children, more than a few times when they were visiting their grandmother. A family that sees homeschooling as a criminal act.

When we left Denmark, it was because we did not trust justice, as we had been told by our then lawyer that only 10% of parents succeeded in winning the cases, a number that we found out was actually only 2%. We intended to secure our children / family by seeking help abroad, for this awful situation.

In the beginning, I took Solrød municipality's assessment, very personally, was offended that they could say that we were dirty at home, offended that they used, among other things, colors on the wall, and an old diagnose of stress, and that my daughter had an Australian accent (which she has never had) as the reason for removing our children.

Our children were healthy and well, intelligent, and despite the autistic signs that they had as young people, had with our help won over their personal obstacles.
Later, I learned that we are just a family of thousands who have had their children mistakenly removed and split their family.
That we made our children's everyday life different is something we are proud of because we have done what was best for them. We have two talented, self-thinking, loving, polite, intelligent children who have coped with the horrific treatment they have received from Denmark.

I read of cases everyday, parents that have had their newborn children removed from the hospital, babies and children that are adopted before the cases have gone to court, children that are treated badly in their foster families, kids put in handcuffs cause they ran away from the institution back home to mum!
And yet the government still wants more children!
I read of reports of how children taken from their parents, have lower self worth, don't do as well in school, etc, etc, but still children are taken on a suspicion that something may be wrong.
I read and hear from lawyers that there is not much they can do. Human rights and children's rights are not used. A judicial system has no place for the views of the parents, the children , or even reports made by independent psychologists.
I have contacted newspapers, lawyers, and human rights organisations hoping that our case, and the voices of the many children in Denmark, could be heard.
Unfortunately, my plea hasn't been heard .... Yet!
