Help Us Pay Kessler's Entire Lunch Debt!
Donation protected
We're parents of two students at Kessler Elementary School in Helena, Montana. During the pandemic, free school lunches have been a lifeline for many students - but they didn't wipe out the debt accrued by students who were struggling to pay for lunch before Covid. The school has begun contacting parents asking that they catch up on that debt, but that isn't easy for every family.
This isn't a partisan issue: every child deserves to eat lunch every day without fear that they're burdening their parents with debt by getting in the lunch line. Childhood hunger is an absolutely unacceptable reality in the richest country in the world, and saddling elementary school children with debt for having eaten shouldn't feel normal.
As of October 2021, Kessler Elementary students have approximately $1,000 of combined lunch debt for a school of around 250 students. That's such a manageable number that will make a huge difference in the lives of many Kessler students and their families, so let's take care of it together. If you can, please pitch in to clear that debt and help struggling families rest a little easier! ♥️
