UPDATE - November 17th:

Our beloved brother, Abdul A. Fuentes Vargas, passed away today after a tragic medical emergency. After several days in the ICU with no chance of recovery, our family had to make the most difficult decision of our lives. Abdul passed peacefully, surrounded by the love and presence of his family.

We are heartbroken beyond words. As we begin to plan his funeral, cremation, and memorial, any support or even a simple share truly helps us carry the weight of this loss. Thank you to everyone who has donated, prayed for us, or shown us compassion - your support means everything to our family.

Hello everyone,

My name is Arianna Fuentes Vargas, and my family is going through the most heartbreaking moment we have ever faced. My brother, Abdul Abad Fuentes Vargas, experienced a severe mental-health crisis on Thursday night that led to a tragic and irreversible medical emergency. He has been in the ICU ever since, and after multiple neurological exams, we were told that there is no possibility of recovery. Abdul is now at the end of life, and our family is preparing for the most painful decisions no family should ever have to make.

This tragedy happened suddenly, with no warning, and it has shattered us. Several of our family members were the ones who found him unresponsive that night—something no one can ever prepare their heart for. The trauma of that moment is something that will stay with each of us forever. Our lives changed in an instant, and we are now trying to navigate both the emotional and practical aftermath of losing someone we love so deeply.

Abdul was more than a brother. He was kind, funny, intelligent, and full of warmth. His smile lit up every room he walked into. He was a son, a sibling, a friend, and a person who struggled quietly but loved loudly. To us, he was family—and losing him in this way has left an emptiness we don’t have words for.

As we face the days ahead, we are also facing a sudden and overwhelming financial burden. Because this happened unexpectedly, and because our family was not prepared for something of this magnitude, we are asking for help with the costs that come next.

These include:

• Funeral, cremation, and memorial services

We want to honor Abdul with dignity, respect, and love. Even a simple cremation and memorial service in Florida can be thousands of dollars, and our family is not financially prepared.

Trauma therapy and mental-health support for our family

Finding Abdul in that state has deeply affected us. We are in shock, grieving, and trying to process intense trauma. Therapy is essential for healing, especially for those who witnessed the event firsthand.

Relocation and housing stability

Our current living situation will change dramatically after this. Our family will need to relocate, and we need support to make that transition possible.

• Time away from work and financial recuperation

We have already missed work and will continue to be out while handling arrangements, grieving, and supporting each other. Much of this time is unpaid. We are trying to stabilize ourselves during a moment when everything feels unstable.

• Remaining expenses associated with Abdul’s care

While hospital bills do not transfer to our family, there are still costs associated with paperwork, transportation, death certificates, and handling arrangements.

Losing Abdul so suddenly has left us broken, but we are trying to stay strong—for him, for each other, and for the healing we desperately need. Any support you can offer, whether through donating or sharing this fundraiser, will help our family breathe and take the next steps in this overwhelming moment.

We want to thank every single person who has reached out, prayed for us, or offered words of love and sympathy. Your kindness means more than you know. If you are unable to donate, please keep Abdul and our family in your thoughts, and please consider sharing this page to help us reach others who may want to support.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us during the darkest chapter of our lives.
