Help Us Give our Father More Time with a Liver Transplant
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Loved Ones,
I never imagined I'd be writing something like this, but my family and I need your help. Our father, a hardworking, humble, and selfless man, is facing an unimaginable health crisis. His liver is failing, and his cancer is spreading. Without a suitable transplant, he won't survive past 6 months.
For as long as I can remember, my dad has put everyone else before himself. He has worked tirelessly to provide for our family, ensuring we had opportunities he never had, paying the bills, supporting my education, and never once asking for anything in return. Even in his toughest moments, he stayed silent, never wanting to burden us. When he underwent laser therapy a few months ago, we didn't even know until the day of because he had no choice but to call my mom for a ride home. He kept his pain to himself, afraid that worrying us would get in the way of our lives.
Beyond his devotion to our family, my dad has always been committed to his community. He has used his construction skills to build housing for the nuns at St. Andrew's Catholic Church at a steep personal loss and has provided toys for underserved children in Vietnam. His and my mom's dream is to retire in the countryside of Vietnam to spend their last years caring for underprivileged youth, giving the last of their days in service to others and God. Even now, in the midst of this tragedy, his thoughts remain with those he hopes to help.
Even through unbearable pain, my dad refuses to slow down. He continues working 40+ hours a week, running his small construction business not for himself, but to make sure my mom is taken care of and that I can finish my last term of college. That’s just who he is. He has always put his family first, no matter the cost.
As refugees from Vietnam and Laos, my parents built a life from nothing, I can never repay them for the sacrifices they made to give me a future. We’ve struggled, living paycheck to paycheck, but they never let that stop them from supporting my dreams. My dad has always been my rock, the one who carried every burden so we wouldn’t have to.
But this is something he can’t fight alone.
My dad doesn't even know we started this fundraiser, and if he did, he'd probably be upset with me. He has always hated asking for help. But right now, he needs it more than ever.
We are reaching out to you, our community, with a heartfelt plea: if you can contribute in any way, whether through donations, prayers, or simply sharing this message, we would be forever grateful. Your generosity would help us:
Potentially save our father's life
Afford the cost of his treatments
Secure necessary medical equipment
We are clinging to hope, hope that with your love, support, and access to medical care, we can give him more time with us. As we navigate this difficult journey, one thing is certain: he will not face it alone.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Your kindness, generosity, and love mean more than words can express.
With endless gratitude,
Eric, Emily and the Nguyen Family
