Help us get to work!!
Donation protected
Our organisation the Byron Bay Herb Nursery, is a non profit charity that has been employing people with a disability for over 25 years. Our workers need your help so they continue to get to work over the next 12 months.
All of our 15 workers are unable to drive and most of them find public transport (PT), when it’s available, difficult to use due to their impairment. As a consequence the majority of them use taxi’s to and from work as they are wheelchair accessible and are more suited to their needs.
The workers use taxi vouchers but still have to pay 50% of the fare. The combined cost for all workers is over $22,500 per year. It was over $50,000 per year but our staff have been working hard to reduce this by training its workers to use PT where possible, ride sharing, working with other community groups and securing grants to contribute to help cover these costs.
It is becoming more and more difficult for our workers and organisation to continue to fund this. But we are almost there. The new NDIS is rolling out over the next 12 months in our area and work transport funding should be included in the workers plans. But in the mean time they need your support during this transition.
Please donate to help our workers get to work so they can continue to do the great work they do. All funds go directly towards their travels costs. All donations are tax deductible as we are a registered charity with tax deductible gift recipient status.
