Hello everyone!

We are HOOP (Helping Overcome Obstacles Peru), a grassroots nonprofit based in Arequipa, Peru. For over 10 years, we’ve been committed to supporting vulnerable families in the community of Flora Tristán, creating meaningful, long-term change through education and empowerment.

In 2025, we’re stronger than ever!

We now work with over 200+ families and 500+ children, offering free educational programs and sustainable development initiatives that aim to break the cycle of poverty and build brighter futures.

Our mission revolves around one word: Opportunities.

At our vibrant community center, we offer a wide range of life-changing programs:

English classes that break down barriers, amplify voices, and give children, teens, and mothers in our community the chance to access global opportunities and claim their right to a brighter future.

STEM education including robotics, electronics and coding workshops, introducing kids to science, technology and problem-solving skills.

Through Ruwana, a women-led social enterprise, we support mothers in the community by strengthening their entrepreneurship, promoting traditional crafts, and creating income-generating opportunities through textile work.

With Flora Circular, our environmental education and circular economy initiative, we work with families and local schools to raise awareness about sustainable practices. We collect organic waste from restaurants, process it into natural compost, and use it to grow nutritious food while teaching communities how sustainability can drive both environmental care and economic opportunity.

Community engagement, the backbone of our work, ensures every program is designed with and for the people of Flora Tristán. From wellness activities to collaborative projects, we foster a culture of shared responsibility, inclusion, and local leadership.

Why We Need Your Help?

While we’ve made great progress, we rely entirely on donations to keep these programs running.

We are currently fundraising 10,000 Euros to help cover:

School supplies for our students: notebooks, pencils, paper, and other classroom materials

Laptops and electronic kits for our robotics, electronics, and coding classes

Craft materials and tools for Ruwana, supporting local mothers in producing and selling handmade textile products

Composting tools, safety gear, and educational materials for Flora Circular, to expand our waste recovery and environmental education efforts with families and schools

Educational resources for our alternative learning and empowerment workshops

Community center maintenance, including electricity, internet, cleaning, and safe learning spaces

For over a decade, we’ve been building opportunities alongside the incredible community of Flora Tristán. What better way to mark this milestone than by coming together to invest in education, sustainability, and empowerment?

Thank you for believing in education. Thank you for believing in HOOP.
