Hi, my name is Adam, and I’m fundraising to help complete a clinical room in our home for my son, Reuben.

Reuben lives with intestinal failure and depends on complex medical care every single day. He has a stoma, a PEG tube to help relieve severe pain and vomiting during pseudo-obstruction episodes, and he receives Parenteral Nutrition (PN) through a Hickman line. Because his nutrition is delivered directly into his bloodstream, everything must be prepared and connected in a clean, sterile environment to reduce the risk of infection.

Our goal has always been to create a dedicated clinical room for Reuben — a safe, calm, hygienic space where his treatment can happen comfortably and safely.

Despite the challenges we’ve faced, I’ve worked hard to get the room as far as I possibly can myself. So far, I have:

• Plastered and painted the room

• Paid for an electrician to move and install sockets for his medical fridge and pump

• Sanded and prepared the floor ready for levelling and fitting LVT flooring, which we already have

Once I’m back in work and feeling stronger, I plan to level and install the flooring myself, as I already have the materials and tools to do this.

However, we still desperately need help to complete the room properly. The funds raised will be used for:

• Cabinets and storage for Reuben’s medical supplies

• A clinical worktop that can be kept sterile for connecting his PN

• Pump holders

• Sanitiser dispensers

• Various other dispensers and holders for the equipment and supplies we use daily

Eight months ago, I suffered a serious mental health breakdown and had to stop working. During that time, all the money we had saved for our wedding and for Reuben’s clinical room had to be used simply to survive and keep our family going. I’m now slowly getting back on my feet and trying to rebuild, but we no longer have the funds to finish this vital space alone.

We’re asking for help to complete Reuben’s clinical room so he can have:

• A safe, sterile space for his PN connections

• Proper storage for his medical supplies

• A calm and comfortable environment for his daily care
