Help Twister Fight for His Life
To all our friends and family (and those that are reading this whom we haven't had the pleasure of meeting):
Our 11-year-old Yorkie, Twister, was rushed to the hospital this past Wednesday night due to sudden profuse bleeding. This was caused by a cyst in his prostate which ruptured and led to internal bleeding. Unfortunately, multiple hematomas have appeared since he was admitted at the Animal Hospital. Twister is currently under observation due to the continued bleeding and has already had one blood transfusion. He is also being treated with antibiotics in hopes to strengthen him, stop the bleeding, and be able to perform the needed surgery to make him all better. He is a fighter and we are not losing hope.
Twister became part of our family when he was 1 year old. He was a ball of energy (hence the name) and has never stopped jumping with the same tenacity and strength. He has always had a strong personality and does not shy away from letting us know exactly how he is feeling - like when he pooped in my daughter's suitcase when she came back from her first semester at FSU. We knew he was saying "Never leave for that long again!" or when I was hospitalized for a week and he cried over FaceTime once he heard my voice again. I really could sit here and tell you all about how loving and loyal our little furry friend is, but it really is heartbreaking at the moment.
When we were asked if we wanted to put him down given the process and the amount of money that it will cost to save him - if at all possible - we could not agree to that option. See, he is one of our children, and as long as he is not suffering, we will keep fighting. We are hoping that the antibiotics and the blood transfusion will help strengthen him because this ball of energy and immense love isn't supposed to leave us yet.
Any little bit counts and we really appreciate your help as we try to not let our financial status dictate the path of our little guy's life. But, most of all, please remember that the power of prayer is real with even the smallest ounce of faith.
