Help Troop 281 Replace Stolen Trailers Equipment

As you may have seen on the news, in the last week BSA Scout Troop 281 of Walker, MI has had not one, but BOTH of our troop trailers stolen.

The trailers contained all of our camping gear: tents, kitchen, dining flys, stoves, and much more. One also had our patch blanket that was a visual record of our troop. As we were unable to go to Camp last year due to covid, we can't wait to go and make great memories, especially for our brand new scouts.

 

The reality is our trailer and gear are probably long gone, so we need to look at replacing everything and especially with the high price of trailers (likely why ours were stolen) and lumber right now we'll definitely need help to do that.  We estimate that it will take about $5000 to replace one trailer, and about $15,000 to replace both trailers and the gear inside.
We have already had many offers for assistance and have put this page together as a way for people to be able to help.  

Monetary help is especially beneficial as it will help us to turn this negative into a positive - allowing the current scouts to have input on the gear they will be using, helping us to standardize our Troop's gear, and allowing us to prioritize the most needed items first as we move forward.

Any donations will first go to replacing the trailers and gear, then toward security measures to prevent future theft, and if there is any beyond that it would be applied towards a 'high adventure' bigger trip that we've been planning for the boys for next summer.
