Help traumatised Middle Eastern woman escape abuse

I am writing on behalf of someone very close to my heart. She is a Middle Eastern woman escaping extreme violence and abuse and is in need of urgent financial support. At a young age she was forced to marry a man who has subjected her to unimaginable physical, emotional and sexual abuse. After moving to the U.K. last year she was finally able to escape her abuser and begin divorce proceedings. However, in order to divorce her abuser and free herself of continued gendered violence, she has had to forfeit all of her rights to any financial support due to the misogynistic laws within her home country.

Throughout their 20 year marriage, her abuser has committed against her innumerable patriarchal violences. He has serially cheated on her, assigning her blame and responsibility for his infidelities with violent misogyny and psychological abuse, gaslighting and manipulation, which has included him accusing her of not being enough of a “woman” for him. Her abuse has subjected her to innumerable physical and sexual violences, and knowingly infected her with incurable sexually transmitted diseases, with which she now must live and manage for the rest of her life.

She has survived complex and accumulative trauma and desperately needs access to the life saving resources that will enable her to remain in the UK so that she may start a new life for herself and her beloved children. She is enduring financial crisis and does not have access to any of the money she saved in her home country as it has been seized by her abuser.

This survivor and mother of two is in desperate need of urgent financial aid as her U.K. Visa is due to expire and it must be renewed so that she and her children can remain free from violence in their new home. Renewing her visa is of utmost impotence as she is working tirelessly towards earning her degree in a local university so that she can secure a future of independence for herself as well as materially support her children.

Her abuser has now resorted to telephoning her children every day so that he may harass and abuse her and her family. At present, she cannot afford to proceed with fully severing contact with him as her children are dependent on the little financial support that he currently provides them.

We are appealing for your material, financial support and solidarity, no matter how small, so that this amazing woman, mother and survivor and her two children who have demonstrated such tremendous courage amidst such horrific trauma can begin to build a new life in the U.K. that is free from abuse and violence.
